For as long as I can remember I have loved to make things. Brought up with an artist dad and a crafty bakey mum I guess this was inevitable.
I studied a BA {hons} in Theatre Design at Bretton Hall College { University of Leeds } specialising in costume and set design. After graduating in 1996, I worked as a wardrobe assistant at Legoland, Windsor and then as resident costume maker at Mountview Theatre School in North London.
As well as pursuing many freelance contracts in theatre and film during this time I then went on to work in the touring wardrobe department of the English National Ballet, later becoming senior assistant.
In 2007 I left the ballet, got married and started my own headdress business, Sarah Hemsley Headdresses, designing and making bridal headdresses.

I live with my husband, our three kids and two cats in our 1930’s home in the surrey suburbs.
